Highlights: Lake Oswego (12-1) jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and looked like it was going to run away with the title and an undefeated season, but Southridge (12-2) responded with 27 unanswered points, thanks to an aggressive defense that forced four turnovers to claim the school’s first state title. The Southridge defense was able to rattle Oregon State commit QB Jack Lomax for most of the game, picking him off twice and forcing a fumble. Lomax still put up some outstanding numbers finishing the game 34 of 45 for 365 yards and two touchdowns and added 55 yards and another score rushing.
Player of the game: Kirk Werhane, SR RB, Southridge, 24 for 125 yards and two scores.
Outstanding underclassman: Will Storey, JR WR, Lake Oswego 10 catches for 119 yards tied with Khashay Jafari, JR LB, Lake Oswego, 10 tackles.

5A: West Albany 35, Thurston 28
Highlights: West Albany (14-0) was able to hold off Thurston (12-1) in a hard fought battle to claim its second consecutive state title. The Bulldogs jumped on the previously unbeaten Colts early to build a 21-0 lead, but thanks to senior RB Devin Anderson, the Colts charged back to tie the game, 28-28, early in the fourth quarter. Anderson finished the game with 109 yards and three scores on 20 carries. The Bulldogs responded quickly with a 5-yard plunge by junior RB Anthony LaCoste with just 8 minutes left in the game to regain the lead for good and their defense tightened up down the stretch stopping a late drive that would have tied the score.
Player of the game: Anthony LaCoste, JR RB, West Albany, 35 carries for 217 yards and three scores.
Outstanding underclassman: LaCoste, plus Kyle Wright, JR LB, Thurston, 13 tackles.

4A: Astoria 19, Banks 11
Highlights: Astoria was able to overcome the early jitters to claim its first state title in school history. The Fishermen (14-0) beat the Braves back in October, 46-26. This time around, the game was a defensive battle through three quarters, but the Fishermen punched in two late scores for the victory. Senior QB Jordan Poyer led the way with 171 yards passing, 76 yards rushing and three scores.
Player of the game: Jordan Poyer, SR QB/DB, Thurston, 7-12 for 171 yards and one score passing, 19-76 yards and two scores rushing, also seven tackles on defense.
Outstanding underclassman: John Criswell, JR DB, Banks, 8 tackles.

3A: Grant Union 28, Gold Beach 14
Highlights: Grant Union (13-0) knocked off the defending state champs to claim its first title since 1943. Senior QB Austin Ranft led the Prospectors, completing 13 of 19 passes for 188 yards and three scores.
Player of the game: Austin Ranft
Outstanding underclassman: Dalton Moore, JR WR, Grant Union, 5 catches for 62 yards and a touchdown.

2A: Knappa 20, Culver 6
Highlights: Knappa (12-1) claimed its first state title in school history with a win over the defending 2A champs, who finished 11-2. The Logger defense held the Bulldog offense that had been averaging 41 points a game to just six points. The offense ran off 20 unanswered led by RB Tevan Klauser, who ran for 49 yards and a score. He also had two catches for 27 yards and another score.
Player of the game: Tevan Klauser
Outstanding underclassman: Bryan Sablan, SO RB, Knappa rushed for 137 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries.

1A (8-Man): Imbler 48, Joseph 36
Highlights: Imbler (11-1) captured the first state title in school history with a hard fought victory over Joseph (11-2). Junior QB Dalton McDaniel threw for two touchdowns and senior RB Nick West added three more scores, including an 82-yard kickoff return, to lead the Panthers, who overcame a 36-28 halftime deficit by holding the Eagles scoreless in the second half.
Player of the game: Dalton McDaniel, JR QB, Imbler 15 of 20 for 254 yards with two scores and 110 yards rushing.
Outstanding underclassman: Zach Phillips, SO WR, 7 catches for 152 yards, 1 TD.
