    ABOUT THE EVENT

Who says cross country has to stay in the country? Welcome to the Gleukos Urban Cross where all of the dirt and muck of the most challenging and fun cross country courses is dumped on the golf course located inside the horse race track at Portland Meadows in Portland, Oregon. That’s right, six traditional cross country obstacles (on steroids) will challenge you and your team of seven to see which team can conquer the course in the least amount of time. Teams will be scored via traditional cross-country scoring rules. Each team participant will also be scored as an individual with overall and age group results posted. Team classifications include: High School, Club, Corporate and Open. This spectator-friendly course also allows your friends & family to view your progress in the race at many points with relative ease. Challenge your favorite rival for a not so average run in the park and bring the kiddos for a Kids’ Dash following the adult XC races.

    COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Gleukos Urban Cross is similar in format to a traditional European cross country course with a multi-loop course (2 loops for the 5K and 4 loops for the 10K). The only differences you’ll find besides the lack of any English accents are the man made obstacles that will blow your socks off and get them dirty.

    For Course Map: click here

    Obstacles include:

    1. Snake In The Hay – More hay bale jumps than you can shake a stick or rattle at.
    2. Drew’s Downpour – Yes, this is a rainstorm and you’ll get soaked.
    3. Billy’s Goat Mogul – 8-foot high wupdeedoos, is this running or motocross?
    4. Scorpion’s Sahara – Sand pits up the wazoo.
    5. Wild Hen Hedgerow – We’re not sure if this is English Ivy or Poison Ivy so just jump over it. (Just kidding, we’d never use English Ivy – it’s invasive to our natural Oregon agricultural and forest economies.)
    6. See Ya Later Gator Swamp – 1.5-foot deep pond just prior to the finish line that you can run through or bathe in – exfoliate while you perpetrate.)

Start Location: All events begin on the east side of the golf course at approximately the center of the back straight-away of the horse racing track.

Finish Location: All races finish at the center of the golf course just north of the horse track scoreboard.
